Tipping is not common in Korea. Most part of room service charges or service charges at upscale restaurants are included in the bill. Tips are not customary in other types of restaurants or service industries.
Foreign tourists can reclaim the 10% VAT tax on purchases from certain tax-free shops (about 4,000 shops nationwide, including department stores, Dongdaemun Fashion District, large marts, etc.) if they show the purchased goods and the tax reclaim form to a customs officer at the VAT desk at the airport when they leave Korea.
Use of electricity and home appliances
Both 110V (voltage) and 220V are used in Korea. You need to check the voltage beforehand if you are going to stay in newly built hotels, which usually have only 220V electrical outlets. Houses built recently are wired only to 220V.
