Mobile Phone

Mobile phone has emerged as the most widely used communication device in Korea. This mobile device, also called "hand phone," can be used conveniently anywhere in Korea.
Many people use mobile phones to send text messages, watch TV via DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), or listen to the radio as well as make phone calls.
Mobile phones are based on CDMA technology in Korea. Thus, mobile phones brought from other countries sometimes cannot be used in Korea.
Nowadays, smartphones are widely spread all around us, and mobile phones are easily available even to foreigners at electronics shops or mobile phone shops. Foreigners, however, need to present their alien registration card and provide bank account information when they buy mobile phones.
